Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the last permanent teeth to appear or erupt. They usually erupt between the ages of 17 and 25, although some people lack them altogether.

This type of intervention is usually performed in the clinic under local anaesthetic, although the patient may request another type of sedation or anaesthesia if desired.
